One of the best tourist destinations in Mexico is Queretaro which is a beautiful city that lies in the heart of the country. In addition, this place boasts many attractions and landmarks such as grand colonial palaces, museums, theaters, churches, plazas, traditional and gourmet restaurants, and bullrings.
Queretaro, a city that lies in Central Mexico, offers breath-taking views and landmarks that are visited by thousands of foreign and local tourists every year.
These are some of the must-see attractions in the city:
Theater of the Republic
This is considered to be one of the most important theaters in Mexico because this is where Emperor Maximilian I had his trial and the country’s first national anthem was played in the public.
Bullrings
The city has two well-known bullrings: Plaza Santa Maria where spectators can see the most popular matadors in the country and Juriquilla which has been considered one of the most beautiful in South America.
Centro Historico
This downtown area was declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site with its historic landmarks including Cerro de las Campanas and Cerro del Sangremal, which are the two hills that are visited by pilgrims.
Convento de la Cruz
This is where the Emperor Maximilian spent his last nights before being executed. Within this convent, visitors can also see a tree that resembles a cross and the “Cruz de Cantera Rosa” which is pink-colored stone that is shaped like a cross.
Feria Internacional Queretaro
During December, the city celebrates the annual cattle fair which is visited by millions of visitors from different parts of the globe to watch cock fights, traditional dancing, and performances by popular Mexican artists.

Tourists can visit the museums in the city including Mathematics Museum and State Regional Museum that have extensive collections of artifacts.
Palacio del Gobierno del Estado

For art lovers, this is the best place to visit with its classical comedy plays. Meanwhile, this colonial theater also serves gourmet foods that are truly mouth-watering.
